Malik Iqbal takes over as FIA chief

ISLAMABAD: Malik Muhammad Iqbal on Friday assumed the charge of director-general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

He has replaced Waseem Ahmed who resigned recently to avert a possible row between the judiciary and the executive over his contractual job.

After taking over as the FIA chief, Mr Iqbal was briefed about the main cases being investigated by the agency.

Mr Iqbal was serving as IGP Balochistan before his FIA assignment.
